4
Place the dough (it should be sticky) in a floured bowl.
Cover with a damp cloth and set aside to rise for 30 minutes.
5
Heat the oven to 60 °C.
6
Place the dough on a floured work surface and divide into 3 equal portions.
Roll using your fingertips to form 3 long ropes of dough.
If it starts to stick, dust with flour from time to time.
7
Lay the ropes parallel, pinch one end to hold them together.
Loosely plait the 3 portions and pinch the other end.
Place in a buttered loaf tin; set aside to rise in the oven for 30 minutes.
8
Remove the brioche from the oven and increase the temperature to 180 °C.
9
Break and beat the egg in a bowl.
Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg, so it will be shiny and golden when baked.
10
Bake for 20 minutes.
If the brioche colours too quickly, cover with aluminum foil.
Cool slightly before turning out; serve warm.
my brioche dough won't rise - 2nd time around and went and bought new ingredients so I know these are okay - I have now just noticed the app differs from the book (which states all ingredients get placed in metal bowl) and for the online recipe there are stages not just put all in bowl to start with. machine has not been used for anything else so a little disappointed as now 2nd day of using.
